St. Irenaeus of Lyon said that 鈥渢he glory of God is man fully alive.鈥 This course explores human flourishing in the light of the Fall and Christ鈥檚 Redemption. Students will ground their understanding of the human person in biblical, theological, philosophical, and biological considerations as they assess the psychological, social and cultural dimensions of human experience. Emphasis will be placed on the integration of the person in light of natural law and the Christian vision of the person as a unity of body and soul, possessed of reason, will and passions and made for 鈥渢he freedom of the children of God,鈥 fully alive.
